We've reached the 19 week mark and I honestly have no idea where the time has gone. This pregnancy is flying by and in just a short while, I will be holding this little baby in my arms. Oh the anticipation!
This weekend was quite eventful, as I helped host my dear friend Kelly's bridal shower (details to follow tomorrow). While all was successful in the end, I was reminded, eh perhaps slapped in the face, with the realization that I was pregnant. Normally running around in a dress and 2 1/2 inch heels wouldn't phase me a bit. I could run a marathon in heels usually. Now... not so much.
By the end of Saturday night, I stumbled in my front door, peeled the shoes off of my very swollen feet, and collapsed on the couch. It took all that I had in me to crawl up the stairs and into bed. I slept like I hadn't slept in a week. Snoring, I am sure! Exhaustion doesn't quite sum up the feeling.
All this helped remind me that I need to take it easy. After all, I am creating a human being inside me right now. A miracle in and of itself.
Onto the update from BabyCenter.com:
"Your baby's sensory development is exploding! His brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that he may be able to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to him, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.
Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a large heirloom tomato. His arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of his body now. His kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on his scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on his skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid."
More than ever before, I feel him move all the time. It's such an amazing feeling and always brings a grin to my face. I find that when I eat sweets, particularly pancakes, he dances a little jig. It's adorable.
Happy Monday all! Let's make it a great week!
