I’d like you to meet my cousin Carly...
In February of 2009, Carly was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma of the sinuses, a form of cancer. Doctors found that the cancer had metastasized to other areas of her body. Since then she has put up one heck of a battle, undergoing numerous chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
One of her lifelong dreams was to see the ball drop in Times Square on New Years Eve. She knew that she needed to make it happen so to ring in 2010, Carly and a few of her family members were able to make the trip to New York City. While she was too weak to be outside for the party, they rang in the New Year with their own party in their hotel room right in Times Square. She watched the ball drop right from the window, had a blast, and was able to fulfill a lifelong dream.
Yesterday morning, after a courageous and spirited fight, Carly lost her battle with cancer. She passed away in her sleep and in the arms of her Mother.
While we’re sad that she’s gone from us, I take comfort knowing that she is resting in a better place now. I ask you to pray for her Mom, Dad, sister, and brother and also my Memaw and Papaw, who were very close to her. I simply cannot imagine what they all must be going through at a time like this.
“In our end is our beginning; in our time, infinity.
In our doubt, there is believing; in our life, eternity.
In our death, a resurrection; at the last, a victory.
Unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.”
Go give those you love a big hug and remind them how much they mean to you.
Rest in Peace Carly Anne.
