Way Back When-esday- Remembering 9/11...

With the tenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks of 9/11 occurring this Sunday, this week’s, “Way Back When-esday,” is a glimpse of a newspaper article that was published shortly thereafter.

Rich played and I cheered for our high school’s football team. The Kowboy Kickoff Classic was scheduled for the Friday after the 9/11 attacks. The game was postponed for a week while the country basically shut down, focusing on attempting to put together the astonishing happenings of the past week.

When game time finally came around, there was a moment of silence in remembrance of the victims. The picture they chose for the front of the paper showed Rich, along with Cole and Joe, head bowed.

I remember the complete and utter silence like it was yesterday.

As the tenth anniversary draws closer, let us not forget.
